About Reiki treatments:
Is Reiki similar to massage?
While some benefits may be the same: relax-
ation, reduced stress, loosened muscles, and
pain relief, there are many differences. Reiki works on more than just the physical level. During a Reiki treatment, you take your shoes off but remain fully clothed. The Reiki practitioner places her hands lightly on or slightly above your body. Her hands remain still for several minutes in various positions; she will not rub or manipulate your body.
Can Reiki interfere with other treatments or therapies?
Reiki needn’t be a stand-alone treatment. Reiki is a wonderful complement to medical and or psychological treatment. In fact, Reiki is used in many hospitals before and after surgery to aid in recovery. Reiki improves the results of treatments, may reduce the amount of medicine required, especially pain medication, and can reduce side-affects. Many chemotherapy patients find Reiki helps them manage side-affects.
Will Reiki go against my religion?
While Reiki is not a religion, the laying on of hands has been used for thousands of years in Christian and many other religious traditions.
You can never be harmed by Reiki. Reiki always works for the highest good. There are no contraindications for Reiki since Reiki always supports optimal wellness.
Won’t Reiki only work for those who believe in it?
You don’t have to be a believer to reap the benefits of Reiki. You can be skeptical but as long as you are open to Reiki it will work. Reiki will not work against your free will. Any one who does not want it will not receive Reiki.

Why might I want to learn Reiki if I don’t want to become a Reiki practitioner?
Anyone who would like to have a tool to comfort and soothe themselves or others can benefit from learning Reiki. We’ve probably all had the experience of seeing our child or someone else we love suffer. Out of instinct we to want to reach out to touch them, and will often put our hands on or over the affected area or “kiss the boo-boo.” With Reiki, you can add healing energy to your loving touch. Many professionals—coaches, nurses, EMTs, medical professionals, massage therapists, and other bodyworks find that Reiki enhances the results of their work. Many professionals can receive CEU credit for Reiki training.
If I don’t frequently use Reiki will I lose it?
Once you have been attuned to Reiki, you will have access to it for life.
Is Reiki hard to learn and use?
It doesn’t require a high IQ, an ability to meditate, or years of disciplined practice to become adapt with Reiki. Anyone, even children, can learn Reiki. Once it’s passed on through an attunement, it’s immediately accessible and be used at any time. Although you will learn ways to activate and facilitate the flow of Reiki, simply putting your hands on yourself or another with the intention to heal will cause Reiki to flow.
What is a Reiki attunement?
A Reiki Master opens up a student's ability to channel Reiki during a special initiation called an attunement. During an attunement, the universal life force/ Higher Power/ God-Consciousness activates and makes adjustments in your energy pathways, allowing you to channel Reiki and be connected to the Reiki source.
Do I have to be intuitive or be medically trained to give Reiki?
While it’s helpful to have a basic understanding of anatomy and to be open to intuition, neither are prerequisites for giving Reiki. That's because you don’t direct the healing, Reiki does. You’ll be taught standard hand positions and will be encouraged to move your hands to other areas as you feel guided. Reiki, however, will flow to where it is most needed, regardless of where your hands are placed.
Will giving Reiki zap my energy and make me take on another person’s symptoms?
Reiki is a channeled healing. You are a conduit for the Reiki—it’s as if you are a one-way straw that Reiki passes through to reach the other person. Because the healing energy flows through you, both you and the person you’re working on will
be treated. You’ll both become energized and relaxed from the Reiki session.
